Reset an activation password
1. In the BlackBerry Manager, in the left pane, click a server.
2. On the User List tab, click a user.
3. Expand Service Access.
4. Click Set Activation Password.
5. Type a shared secret password.
6. Retype the password to confirm it.
7. From the Password Expires in drop-down list, select an expiration time.
8. Click OK.
Expire an existing activation password
1. In the BlackBerry Manager, in the left pane, click a server.
2. On the User List tab, click a user.
3. Expand Service Access.
4. Type the existing activation password.
5. Retype the password to confirm it.
6. From the Password Expires in drop-down list, select 0 hours (now).
7. Click OK.
Issuing new handhelds to users
When a user receives a new handheld, you must register the new PIN for email redirection. If the user
does not have access to the Desktop Software, register the new handheld using the BlackBerry Manager.
If users receive a replacement handheld, and they want to enable wireless calendar synchronization, they
must enable it using the optional Desktop Software or configure it directly on the handheld. See the
BlackBerry Wireless Handheld User Guide
for more information. To activate the handheld wirelessly, the
handheld must be running Handheld Software version 4.0.
Note: Accented characters are not supported in activation passwords.
Note: You must know the existing active activation password to expire it.
Scenario Procedure
Lost handheld ! Assign a new password and lock the handheld. See “Manage handheld security” on page 29 for more
information.
Stolen handheld ! Disable the handheld and delete stored information. See “Manage handheld security” on page 29 for
more information.
